Dispute Resolution Secretariat (Tribunal)
Fee for Service Program
The Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) offers a Fee-for-Service Program to make its case managements services and its independent dispute resolution services available to all levels of the Canadian sport system—not only to federally-funded national sport organizations. Through this program, sport clubs, provincial and territorial organizations, universities, schools, and other sport bodies can access the same specialized tribunal services used at the national level.
Through the Fee-for-Service Program, organizations can choose from a range of tailored dispute resolution options, including:
Current charges for SDRCC dispute resolution services are as follows (in addition to the $500 + applicable taxes filing fee payable by the Claimant):
* all amounts are in CAD currency
a) SDRCC case management fees are charged at a flat fee of $750 + applicable taxes per case;
b) Dispute Resolution Professional (arbitrators and mediators) rates are currently at $350 per hour + applicable taxes;
c) A ruling on conservatory measures* (if applicable) is charged at a fixed rate of $1,500 + applicable taxes;
d) A jurisdictional arbitration* (if applicable following a jurisdictional challenge) is charged at a fixed rate of $2,500 + applicable taxes;
e) All other charges (e.g., travel expenses, room rental, conference calling costs, etc.) will be billed at cost based on the need and usage.
Because every situation is different, fees are confirmed on a case-by-case basis once SDRCC Tribunal staff has a basic understanding of the nature and complexity of the dispute. To discuss your situation or request a quote, please contact tribunal@crdsc-sdrcc.ca.
* A ruling on Conservatory Measures is an interim decision made before the final award to protect the process and prevent irreversible harm (see section 6.8 of the Code)
*A jurisdictional arbitration is a preliminary arbitration step where the SDRCC appoints a Jurisdictional Arbitrator to decide threshold jurisdictional and certain procedural questions before the main hearing panel is even constituted (see section 5.4 of the Code).
